Rev. Lemuel H. Ross (March 1, 1783 – 1836) was a son of Benjamin Ross and Prudence Redditt. He carries the honorific "Rev." in project genealogical records, though no record of his ministry or denomination has been located in the sources reviewed for this article. He is documented as Benjamin's son in an 1823 Beaufort County land deed — the most direct piece of documentary evidence for any parent-child relationship in this generation of the family.

Research notes
Disputed origins
Of the three sons of Benjamin Ross covered in this project, Lemuel Ross's parentage rests on the strongest direct documentary footing: the 1823 land deed in which Benjamin Ross explicitly names Lemuel as his son. See Benjamin Ross for the broader, unresolved question of Benjamin's own place in this family and his relationship (if any) to John Ross the Immigrant.

Common discrepancies
* This man is frequently at risk of confusion with his grand-nephew Lemuel Hiram Ross (b. 1861) — son of his brother John Riley Ross's son Riley Ross — the 1912 Sons of the American Revolution applicant; see the hatnote above and Benjamin Ross.
