This template will create a source citation for microfilm reels that have been digitized by [[FamilySearch]] and published on their site.

Some collections at FamilySearch are indexed, meaning that records can be located by searching for particular name, date, and/or place. These typically include census, birth and marriage records. In such cases, 'Record' pages that can be attached to the [[FamilySearch Family Tree]] are returned as a search result. These 'Record' pages provide a link to view the original image. Clicking the 'Image Group Number' on the Group Data tab beneath the image will take you to the microfilm reel that contains the image.

In cases where documents are not indexed, typically probate records and deed books, documents are found by browsing the record collections in order to find the appropriate microfilm reel and then browsing the images contained on the reel.

This citation is created from a combination of information found in the source citation on the image page and the catalog page of the book the record is found in.

Typically, this citation would be added to the bulleted list in the 'Sources' section of an article. {{tl|sfn}} would then be used to add the citation within the article. The page number and link (url) would be added there. It is possible to add the page number and url to the {{tl|FamilySearch deed book}} template itself and include it in the body of the article, but the standard convention would be to use the {{tl|sfn}} template.
