This file is of interest because it contains the correspondence in which David Monro of Allan was made aware of this his mother's death. It puts her date of death at September 9, 1756. Unfortunately, it does not give her name. Current thought is that David was the son of Joseph Monro and Bessie Ross, but documents confirming this have not been located.
Letters in this file also support the timeline for David's purchase of Meikle Allan. There are not details of the purchase itself, but the letters outline his efforts to survey the tenants and the state of the lands after his purchase.
