The clergy, nobles, and community of Scotland request Eric K. of Norway to send his daughter Margaret Q. of Scotland to be married to prince Edward of England.

For your good fame, and for the disloyalty that you so commonly celebrate at all, and for the good neighborhood and the great profit, that the kingdom of Escoce received from you, and your father, and from you ancestors of the tens ce in arere;

Sumes nus mut leez & joyus de ascones noveles, that many people speak, ke the apostoyll must have aver ourtree & this dispensation, ke marriage can be made between my sir Edward, your fitz, & lady Margarete Reyne de Escoce, our dear lady, notostant nearynete de saunk; and above all, your highness, please certify us of this thing.

Kar, if the dispensation grunte, it is grunte to you, bare of the hores, ke the marriage of them before, ours is our agreement, & ours assent ydonom; & ke you face the facts, that our messages, which we send to your parliament, must come to you from behind, that are resonable.

And, if it is to purchace, naked, for the great goods for profit, which purrunt of our future to one and the other kingdom, mettrom volenters conseyl, together ovesque you, how it is purchace.

And, for this thing, and others, which concern the state of the kingdom of Escoce, on which we will have the authority to warn about you; we have sent Gardeyns, bishops, counts, abbots, priors, and barons, sent to you, in London, to your parliament of Pasch in the near future, of good people of the realm of Escoce, pure nus, & pure eus, & pure all the commune by Escoce.

And, in testimony of these things, we, guardians of the kingdom, prelates, counts, and barons, in the name of us, and of the whole commune, the seel common, which we use in Escoce, in the name of our lady avauntdyte, auvom fet put to this letter.

Done at Briggeham, the Friday near after the feast of Seint Gregorie, the year of our Seygnur MCCLXXXIX.

They pray that Edward certify them concerning this because if the dispensation is granted, he may give them consent for the marriage and that he may do for them the things their messengers, sent to his parliament, displayed to him on their behalf. They shall send to his Easter parliament at London people of the realm.
