The competitors for the crown of Scotland acknowledge K. Edward as superior lord of that realm and grant possession of Scotland to the King of England until the decision of the question relative to the right to the crown.

To all who this letter will see or receive, Florence count of Holand, Robert de Brus seignor of Val d'Anaunt, Johan de Baillol seignor of Gaweye, Johan de Hastinges seignor of Bergeveny, Johan Comyn seignor of Badenough, Patrik de Dumbar count of the March, Johan de Vescy by his father, Nichols de Soules, & Willame de Ros, salute to GOD.

As we understood to have the right in the realm of Scotland, this right must be tested, challenged, and averred before the one, who it is to poer, juridiccion, and reson had to sort our right;

And the noble prince, Sir Edward, by the grace of GOD, King of England, has enthroned us, by good and sufficient resons, that to him apent, and to have owed the sovereign lordship of the kingdom of Scotland, and the knowledge of him , sort, & finish our right;

We, of our own will, save in no way by force or destruction, voloms, otrioms & grauntoms of right to receive before him, as soverayn lord of the earth.

We went to the menis, and promised that we will have come, and will tend to close and establish his feast, that the kingdom will be brought to him, to the right that it will last before him.

As a witness to this, we have placed our seals on it.

Fet & done at Norham, the next Tuesday after the Assenssion, the year of Grace MCCXCI.

As we were otrie e grante, of our good will and common assent, without any distraction, to noble prince, Sir Edward, by the grace of DEU, King of England, that he as sovereign lord of the land of Scotland, may say , sort, and finish our challenges, and our requests, which we heard must be made, and averred by our right in the realm of Scotland; he right to receive must be li, as sovereign lord of the earth
