This thing is for everyone, who these letters will see, and will hear;
As Sir Edward, by the grace of GOD, King of England, Lord of Ireland, and Duke of Guyene, requested the sovereignty of the kingdom of Scotland, which was recognized and granted to him by Florence Count of Holande, Robert of Brus lord of Val d'Anand, Johan de Bailoll, Johan de Hastinges, & Patrik de Dumbar tale of the March, Johan Comyn, Johan de Vesci in non Guyllam de Vescy his father, Guillam de Ros, Nicholas de Soules;
Who the former realm demands as their right, their inheritance;
Even the King was asked of Gilbert de Humfranville, Count of Anegos the Chasteus of Dundee, and of Forfar, whom he had in custody, who had him as a chief lord
I replied, even by Gilbert, that they were chastely granted to him in no way by any means, as he did not have them from the King, but from the comune of the realm of Scotland.
My in the presence of the former King, at Norham, the Joedy near in front of the feast of Saint Barnabas the Apostle, in the year of Grace thousandth ducent nonantism prime, by assent of the gardeyns of the realm of Scotland, to the King, as to a of demaundurs, and the other avauntditz demaundurs, the before said Gilbert ad the chasteus before named, like the right and the inheritance one of them, delivered and yawned, by law command, by law requested, solom the oath which he ad made, closer to the saunk, which by right is heir to the foregoing.
King, and all the other petitioners before name por eus, e por lor heirs, jointly all, and cheskun severament por him, gruntent, and by this it is written firmly oblige themselves, of or bone volunte, without any manner of destresce that the law said Gilbert, and his heirs, by ascheson of ceo, that he has the chasteus before name return and yawn, in the form before said, no evil damage, can be incurred, in no tens future;
My decree, the King, and the above-mentioned applicants, are bound to guarantee and defend the above-mentioned Gilbert, and his heirs, if as it is before-mentioned, against all people at all times, born by the King, not the others above-mentioned applicants, neither by any one of them, nor by lor heirs, in any tens, be chalange, nor encumber by acheson of rendering before said.
As a testimony to this the King, and the other petitioners before naming the Gardeyns, have these letters myst lor buckets.
Don’ to Norham, on the tenth day of the month of Juyn, in the year of Grace before said.

Like the nobles and high men, Florenz counte de Holland, Robert de Bruys lord of Val de Anaund, Johan de Balilol lord of Gaweye, Johan de Hastinges, lord of Bergeveny, Johan Comyn lord of Badenagh, Patriks of Dumbar counte de la Marche, Johan de Vescy by his father, Nichole de Soules, & Guillam de Ros.
Claimants right in the realm of Scotland, by common consent of Willielm' & Robert, by the grace of GOD, of Saint Andrew & of Glasgen bishops: Johan Comyn, & James seneschal of Scotland, guardians of the realm of Scotland; & by the good gentz of the same kingdom, who were present;
We are granted the sovereign lordship of the said kingdom of Scotland, and have rightly agreed to receive before us, as the sovereign lordship owes us;
We voloms & grauntoms per this present letter, that the right be done within the kingdom of Scotland & never mye then, as long as there was King of Scotland.
As a testimony to this aforementioned thing we had our seal put to this writing, done & done at Norham, on the 12th. day of the month of Juyn, the year of Grace MCCXCI.Document
