| Description | Until 1635 the register does not note the dates on which the retours were received in Chancery and for some time thereafter the entries are out of chronological order. The dates shown below therefore only give an approximate indication of the periods at which the volumes were compiled. All retours prior to 1700 (including the supplementary volumes, 177-185) are calendared in Thomas Thomson's Retours. From 1700 to 1847 only services of heirs are contained in the printed Decennial Indexes but there is a typescript index of tutories and curatories. |
