R. univ͛sis & fingulis vicecomizibʒ majoribʒ ballivis ministris & aliis fidelibʒ suis tam infra lib̴tates qªm extª ad quos &c. satræ Sciatis q̃d cum Joh̴es de Roos de Scotia frat͛ dilti & fidelis nr͞i Godefr̃i de Roos ad ip̃m Godefr̃in in Angl̕ de nr̃a licentia sit ventur’ suscepimꝰ ip̃m Jeh̴em veniendo cum duobʒ equitibʒ in regnū nr̃m ibidem morando & exinde ad đtas p̱tes redeundo in prectõem & defensionem nr̃am necnon in salvū & securū conductū nr̃im Et ideo vob mandamꝰ &c. prout in similibus In cujꝰ &c. usꝙ ad sestum Nativitatis St̃i Joh̴is Bapt̃e ꝑx̃ futur̕ duratux’.

Translation:

Safely conducted for John de Roos.

R. All the lords and lords of the high and low, the viceroys, the majors, the bailiffs, the ministers, and the others, as well as their faithful ones, within the liberties which are given to them, etc. of the church, know that when John de Roos of Scotland, the beloved and faithful brother of Godfrey de Roos, comes to Godfrey in England, we undertake to come with two horses to the kingdom, to stay there, and from there to those places, to return in peace and defense, and in safe and secure conduct. And therefore we command you, etc., as in similar matters, in whose &c. ours will last until the sixth day of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist.
