Title	Notification by Alexander Stewart, earl of Buchane, [Buchan] lord of Ross and of Badynach, that Andrew de Terrel was cited to compear before the granter at [Dingwall] Dyngwale to show by what evidents he claimed to hold his tenement of Terrel; that he was unable to compear on account of infirmity but his procurators stated on oath in granter's court at Dyngwale that said Andrew's charter was burned by fire in the church of Terbart but that his manner of holding was as follows, viz., that John called Boner, said Andrew's predecessor, was infeft in lands of Terrel, in heritage, by charter of infeftment of deceased William, earl of Ross, father of Sir Hugh, earl of Ross, for homage and service and three suits of court annually to the three head courts of the earldom (comitatus) of ross, under reddendo of 3 marks [Scots] annually plus 10s. annually from toun of Ester Ard, and that William, earl of Ross, son and heir of said Sir Hugh, gave same to said Andrew by his charter; and that all the above was put to the assise of lawful men of the neighbourhood, viz., Sir William de Fodirgay, Sir John de Swthirland, Sir Richard Commyn, kt., Adam de Wrchard, Hugh de Monro, Alexander de Cheshelme, David de Dunnowyn, William de Kyngorne, James Prat and James, son of Stephen, who declared on oath that said Andrew and his predecessor were hereditarily infeft and chartered (infeodati et cartati) as stated above.
