| Title | Charter under the great seal of King James II confirming (1) Letters of Quitclaim and Renunciation (in Scots) by John Lyndesay, Lord of the Byris, whereby he renounced in favour of Jonet of Abirkerdore and Walter of Innes, her son, all right and claim which he had by right of succession of the late Sir William the Lyndesay, his father, or in any other way, in and to the lands and annualrents of the lordship of Abirkerdore within the sheriffdom of Banff, and also granted them all annualrents and other rights due to him through any title of right to said barony under reservation to himself and his heirs of the superiority of the tendandry of Crumby lying within the said lands of Abirkerdore. | Description | Further he bound himself to resign his superiority of the tenandry of Crumby into the hands of the said Jonet and Walter in the event of the tenant agreeing to hold of them, and also to resign all his rights in said lands into the hands of the King: At Edinburgh 16 January 1426-1427; and (2) Charter by Alexander de Ile, Lord of the Isles, Earl of Ross and Justiciar of the north side of the Water of Forth, confirming the grant which Sir John de Lyndesay, Lord of Byres, made to Sir Walter de Innes of that Ilk, knight, of the lands of the barony of Abirkerdore in the sheriffdom of Banf: To be held to the said Sir Walter as freely as in the charter of said lands granted by the late Sir Walter de Lesly, grandfather of the granter, to the late Sir William de Lyndesay of Byris, his Kinsman: At the Castle of Dingvelle 22nd February 1438-1439. Witnesses, William de Lesly, sheriff of Innerys, George de Munro, lord of Foulis, William de Vrchard, William de Caldor, Hugh de Rose and Murchard Revach, esquires. The confirmation is dated at Kyldrumy 19 August 1453 a.r. 17. Witnesses, William, bishop of Glasgow, William, Lord Creichton, chancellor, Alexander, Lord Montgomery, Patrick, Lord Glammys, Robert, Lord Boyd, Gilbert Kennedy of Dunnure, Mr James Lyndesay, keeper of the privy seal, and Mr George de Schoriswod, the King's secretary. |
