David Dei gracia rex Scottorum omnibus probis hominibus tocius terre sue salutem . Sciatis nos dedisse et hac presenti carta nostra confirmasse dilecto et fideli nostro Hugoni de Roos, illum annuum redditum decem librarum , et quatuor celdrarum frumenti , nobis debitum sive exeuntem de terris de Doune cum pertinenciis, infra vicecomitatum de Banffe · Tenendum et habendum eidem Hugoni et Margarete de Berclay sponse eorum diucius viventi pro toto tempore vite sue , libere quiete bene et in pace . In cujus rei , etc. Testibus, etc. Apud Perthe, vicesimo sexto die Februarii anno regni nostri quadragesimo.

Translation

The charter of Hugh de Roos.
David, king of the Scots, by the grace of God, hastened the salvation of his land to all honest men. Be it known that we have given and confirmed by this present charter to our beloved and faithful Hugh de Roos, the annual rent of ten pounds and four bushels of corn, due to us or coming out of the lands of Doune with their appurtenances, below the viscounty of Banff · To be held and held by the same Hugh and Margaret de Berclay, their spouse, living longer for all the time of her life, freely, quietly, well, and in peace. In whose case, etc. Witnesses, etc. At Perth, on the twenty-sixth day of February, in the fortieth year of our reign.
