David, etc., omnibus , etc. Licet dilectus consanguineus noster Willelmus comes de Rosse alias nobis per fustum et baculum sursum reddiderit et resignaverit totum jus et clameum que habuit vel habere potuit in foresta de le Plater, in terris de Futhynevynt et in advocacione ecclesie ejusdem cum pertinenciis . Nos considerantes veraciter qualiter non motu proprio ad hoc fuerat inductus idem comes, et ex quo litere hujusmodi resignacionis penes nos hucusque remanserant, quas dicto comiti jam liberari fecimus, ac dicta jus et clameum in nos translata ut predicitur in predicitur in personam cujuscunque hucusque non transtulimus · totum jus et juris clameum dicte foreste , terrarum et advocacionis ecclesie , que dictus consanguineus noster nobis sursum reddidit et resignavit ut predicitur, eidem consanguineo nostro plene et integre jam concedimus . Tenenda et habenda eidem consanguineo nostro et heredibus suis de nobis et heredibus nostris in feodo et hereditate, adeo libere et quiete sicut ipsa habuit aut habere debuit liberius quiecius et integrius aliquo tempore ante dictam resignacionem ut premittitur nobis factam . Translation

Charter of William, Count of Ross. David, etc., to all, etc. Although our beloved kinsman William, count of Rosse, has previously restored to us by club and staff, and resigned all the right and claim which he had or could have in the forest of le Plater, in the lands of Futhynevynt and in the advowson of the church with the same appurtenances. When we truly considered how the same count had not been brought to this by his own motion, and from which letter of resignation of this kind we had remained until now, whom we had already freed from the said count, and the said right and claim had been transferred to us as aforesaid in the person of whom we had not yet transferred · all the right and right claim to the said forest, the lands and the advocating church, which our said kinsman has returned to us above and resigned as aforesaid, we now fully and completely grant to the same kinsman of ours. To be held and to be held by the same kinsman and his heirs from us and our heirs in fee and inheritance, as freely and quietly as she had or ought to have had more freely and more freely and wholesomely some time before the said resignation as it was made to us. In whose case, etc. Witnesses, etc. At Edinburgh, on the sixth day of May in the fortieth year of our reign.
