In the Name of God amen.

I, James Ross of the County of Rowan and State of North Carlina being weak in body, but sound in memory, Blessed be the Lord, do this first day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty eight do make and publish this my last will and Testament in the manner following:

Viz: and first I do decree all my Just Debts to be paid and that my body may be buried in a decent Christian like manner as the discretion of my Executors may think proper and second five hundred and ninety acres of land I leave to be equally divided between my Dear and loving wife Jean Ross and four children.

Vis: Joseph, Benjamin, Jean and Susanah, and thirdly I do leave to my daughter in law Grizzel Shaw's child John Shaw fifty acres of land to him & his heirs forever and fourthly, I do leave my stock of all kinds such as sheep, cattle, Horses and hoggs & to raise and support my dear wife and children as above mentioned and as to the same children comes of age to have the stock equally divided among them, fifty also all the furniture of every kind to be for the support of my dear wife & Children and to be equally divided among them as they come of age ------

and I Make my loving Friend Thomas Anderson & my son Henry Ross executors of this my will and Testament to take care and see the same performed according to my true intent and meaning in witness whereof I the same James Ross have to this my last will and Testament set my hand and sealt he date and date above written.
