2720. 29th October 1673.] Instrument of Sasine following on an assignation and obligation (dated at Inverness, 13th March 1671) by which John Polson of Merkinsche assigned to Robert Barbour, merchant in Inverness, 2000 of 3000 merks, .due by Hector Douglas of Muldearg, as principal, and the late James Douglas of Little Rany and James Corbat of Ballnagall, on a bond dated 26th September 1666, in favour of Marion Ros, relict of the late Thomas Polson, some time in Meikle Allan, in liferent, and John Polson in fee—a bond which in turn Marion Ros assigned to John Polson— the sum of 2000 merks, being secured over the two mills of Fearn, with the mill-crofts, multures, etc. [cf. No. 2658], lying in the abbacy of Fearn and sheriflclom of Ross. Sasine given to the said Robert Barbour on 29th October, and recorded 8th November, 1673, in the general register. Witnesses, Colin Ros and Hector Hectorson, 'fermorers' of said mills and indwellers in Fearn, Alexander Ros there, and William Gair in Meikle Rany. Notary, David Ros, of Ross diocese.
