2772. 27th June 1677.] Charter by John [Paterson], bishop of Ross, superior of the lands, confirming a letter of alienation, dated 20th November 1675 [see 22nd November 1675 supra], by Hector Douglas of Muldearg, granting to Robert Barbour, bailie of Inverness, the town and lands of Muldearg, etc., with common pasture of Sallachie ; the lands formerly of the monastery or abbacy of Ferne, with kiln, byres, etc. etc., of said monastery ; also the lands of Wester Drumes of Ferne ; the lands of Easter and Wester Belnasiraches, comprehending various crofts, as M'Walters' croft, M'Rorie's croft, Cullin croft, Belnasiraches' croft, Smith's croft, and Merinsche croft ; also the two mills of Ferne, with mill-lands and multures ; also the lands of Bridgend, and others named in writ cited—all lying within the abbacy of Ferne formerly, and now within the bishopric of Ross, as part of its patrimony. Confirmation dated at Fortrose, 27th June 1677. Signed by the bishop and various members of the chapter. Witnesses, Hugh Dallas, clerk of the commissariot of Ross, David Monipennie, bailie of Fortrose, and Alexander Mackcra, writer there. [1070, Box 29.
